Blogging for the Future

Blogging regularly is very important for SEO as it creates new, fresh content for Google and other major search engines to read. One of Google’s ranking factors is how often your website is updated, also Google seems to crawl regulary updated websites more often than static websites. Blogs about the latest news or gossip can bring in a lot of traffic so it pays to keep blogging even when there is little to blog about as you’ll get noticed very quickly when you hit a big subject.
WordPress has a very handy feature where you can set blogs posts to publish at a future date. This can solve many issues such as:
- If you are going on holiday and won’t be blogging for a week or two
- If you hate writing blog posts and want to get them all done in one go
- If you employ someone to write your blog posts (such as a ‘ghost-writer’ or copy writer)
- If you expect a busy period will come up soon and you don’t want to be blogging then
You can still make it appear that you are blogging everyday by pre-loading WordPress with several blog posts and telling it to publish them at a later date. The image above shows you the area where to change the publish settings, you can even set the exact time when to run the publish job.
Some companies with WordPress blogs save time and effort by getting a writer to produce a whole month’s worth of blog posts in one go and using the future publish settings to ensure the next month’s blogs are submitted.
Give future blog commenting a go next time you post on your WordPress (or Joomla) blog!
