Diecast Cars from Diecast Stars
Posted by admin on February, 3rd 2011
We’ve been refining our on-site SEO for Magento ecommerce sites and very quickly results are appearing for one of our latest client’s website: DieCastStars.com.
The website holds over 1000 models of Diecast cars built usually to the scale of 1:18 (that’s 5.5% if you prefer percentages!). All the cars are exact copies of the real thing so you can finally own that Bugatti Veyron you’ve always dreamed of! Some higher end models have incredibly fine details details and even moving parts such as the steering wheel, boot and engine bonnet.
Magento is a very flexible piece of software and with a few teaks ‘underneath the bonnet’ you can successfully create filterable navigation which boosters the on-site SEO.
Each product has a number of categories including:
- Car Make
- Car Type
- Scale of Model
- Year of the Car Make
- Price
The URL re-writes on Magento allow perfect URL’s based on the selected range of categories. For example if you are searching for say, “silver BMW diecast model cars“ then you will see the words appear in the actual URL: http://www.diecaststars.com/diecast-model-cars/bmw/silver
The different combinations of filterable navigation create over 4000 unique pages all sorted in an XML sitemap for the search engines to read easily. This sheer amount of page count really helps with the SEO as it’s likely to bring up long tail keywords and very specific searches.
Google’s Webmaster Guidelines states that pages shouldn’t be created purely for SEO benefit so filtered pages which have no products to display are conditionally filtered out. We’re refining the URL filtering process and are also testing methods to produce the best meta information using the categories and information we have for each product. Google is now crawling 5000 (non-unique) pages a day and hundreds are entering it’s index per day which is a very positive sign.
After two months of SEO work on Diecast Stars we have already achieved these impressive results for our clients:
On the 3rd of February 2011
“Diecast Cars” – Position #2
“Diecast Models” – Position #8
“Diecast” – Position #9
“AutoART” – Position #10
