What is a squeeze page?

You may have heard of “squeeze pages” within fancy ‘internet marketing’ lingo but what does the term really mean?

A “squeeze page” is a webpage which directs the visitor to perform one action

So what examples are there of an action on a squeeze page?

  • Click an internal link (useful for ecommerce)
  • Click an external link (useful for affiliate marketing)
  • Call a phone number (useful for a service website)
  • Fill in a form (useful for email marketing and polls)

Now before you go out and create squeeze pages for whatever your aim remember this vital on-site SEO tip:

Dead end pages are a big no-no to Google; visitors would have to use the “back button” to get back to the main page’s content!  This degrades accessibility of the website and could harm your rankings.

One way to get around creating a ‘dead end’ page is to have a navigation bar present still at the top of your page and it’s also a bonus to have ‘privacy’, ‘terms’ and ‘contact’ pages linked to from the footer (a positive ranking factor).

Remember if you can get traffic to a squeeze page then it’s a very effective way to get visitors to do what you want, good luck!
