Solid SEO advice

solid seo adviceHowever SEO changes in the future there is always some golden rules to follow that will never change (hopefully!).

Whenever someone writes a book on SEO there are waves of people who say “…it’s out of date!” or “…this won’t be valid in one or two years time.” for example.

It’s true that things will change in the near future with search engines and how people use the internet but the basic principles of SEO will remain absolute; they are:

Make your website useful to visitors

- People want to see new content about the subject they are searching for
- People need to navigate through a website easily and on different computers/browsers
- Privacy statements should be clearly shown if any personal information or user-tracking is involved
- People want the information they request quickly and in formats their computers can understand without any new installations or plugins

Promote your website

- Get other websites to link to your website
- Get other websites/publications to write about your website/brand
- Spread new content and news around using feeds and other information channels
- Interact and grow your fan base though social media or blogs

Present your content neatly to the search engines

- Use standard coding practices to present content to search engine spiders efficiently
- Separate your data into categories and sub-categories, have unique pages for all related content
- Add feeds, meta information, sitemaps, links, tags etc. so search engines can quickly find the relevant data
- Do not try and fool search engines as they run many checks and other people can flag your practices up directly
