SEO Viral Testing – Flash Games/Movies
Posted by admin on May, 25th 2010
We thought we should test out the power of SEO Virals here at Real Web SEO.
Our SEO manager created a 3D Flash sandbox in his spare time and submitted it to the popular site NewGrounds.com. The Flash game received a number of rave reviews and we even hosted the game on our own site that can be found here.
On the first screen of the Flash movie is a “_self” targeted backlink linking to RealWebSEO.com and this is the key to a Flash SEO viral. Many Flash game collection sites STEAL Flash games and host them on their own sites, now this may seem like an outrageous thing to do but think about it, our link is on each Flash movie stolen so we’ve effectively built a few hundred backlinks to our site in a very short space of time!
Google and Yahoo can read links within Flash movies now (to an extent) although there has been little testing on the impact of Flash links whether they have the same effect as normal text links.
Creating any viral can be an incredible boost to off-site SEO; if you made the latest funniest video online then you could get thousands of visitors to any website related to it within DAYS of it going live!! Many companies are pouring tens of thousands of pounds into the latest online viral – some cool tool, video or stunt to get people excited – some work really well, others flop.
Thinking about creating your own viral?
BEWARE – It could take a great deal of one of these things:
- Time
- Effort
- Money
- Luck
